Weekly summary 32/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 32nd week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Novel Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. The novel Coronavirus keeps roaming through the word. The amount of daily new infections continuously exceedes a quarter million per day on average.

The number of total confirmed cases is now close to 20 million; as of today, it is at 19,893,094. So far, 731,081 deaths were recorded.

There is some new data on herd immunity and long haulers. As it appears, the long-lasting damages and side-effects to health might turn out to be a bigger problem than the infection itself.

b) Economical ramifications. Economy starts to show problems, too. Unemployment rates go up, many businesses struggle.
The EU and the U.S. are moving towards a massive recession.
Crisis indicator gold has reached an all-time high.

c) Impact on the doll business. As far as the doll business is concerned, freight costs have started to increase again.

There is unsettling news from Fedex. This global carrier has announced a temporary stop of shipping sex dolls This affecty primarily drop-shipping locations like North America where Fedex normally processes about 99% of all sex doll shipments. Chinese shipping agents try to work around the new shipping issues with 'UPS Worldwide' and the sea route.

Regarding Indigo's products, individual shipments to the U.S. are still too expensive (freight costs exceed product costs).

No changes for EU destinations so far. Transit time with 'UPS special line' by rail remains at 50-60 days.

Also a warning from first hand experience with DPD (unrelated to dolls). Like all other carriers, the company has instructed their drivers to sign for the consignee. In a documented case, DPD delivered to a neighbour, did not leave a notification and signed with a fake signature for the virtual delivery. In this case a friendly neighbour made the actual delivery, but not everybody might be similarily lucky. Please keep in mind that the tracking code is currently the only way to trace the whereabouts of your shipment. This currently applies to all carriers, including UPS, Fedex, and DHL Express.

2) New arrivals.

This week, five new heads were introduced:

• SE Doll ›Samantha‹ head - TPE
• SE Doll ›Sandra‹ head (SE no. 055) - TPE
• Xycolo ›Aili‹ head (XC no. 13) - silicone

Also, three new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: Doll Forever D4E-65 - TPE / 65 cm / 3 kg
• New arrivals: HR Doll HR-154/C body style - TPE / height ~154 cm / weight ~41 kg
• New arrivals: SE Doll SE-148/E aka ›Samantha‹ (= SED068) - TPE / ~148 cm / ~27 kg

Last but not least, two new torsos were released:

• New arrivals: Doll Forever Torso 55 - TPE / ~55 cm / ~14 kg
• New arrivals: Doll Forever Torso 48 - TPE / ~48 cm / ~9 kg
