Weekly summary 07/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 7th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

As in the past weeks, the economy is still overshadowed by SARS-CoV-2 respectively COVID-19. In a nutshell, the whole Chinese doll industry is frozen since the end of Chinese New Year holidays. Most Chinese businesses remained closed (at least) until February 17th, 2020 because of the Coronavirus outbreak. This is a governmental decision which affects all Chinese doll makers, so factories are still officially closed and production has not yet resumed after CNY holidays.

For vendors this means: There is nothing to sell which comes from China (e.g. made-to-order dolls, heads, or torsos), or depends on components manufactured in China (e.g. Indigo's TPE Repair Kit).

In case that factories are allowed to open next week, they will probably not run at full capacity right away as their supply chain for raw materials, skeleton parts, eyes, wigs, cardboard boxes etc. has been impacted as well. Also, it is still unknown how many traveling workers will make it to Southern China as traffic has been shut down partially as well. Last but not least it is unclear which restrictions might be imposed upon goods for export.

1) New arrivals.

In the past week, two new heads were introduced:

• YL Doll ›Kyra‹ head (Jinsan no. 357) - TPE

Two new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: Gynoid Tech GT-172 body style / silicone / ~172 cm / ~36 kg
• New arrivals: YL Doll YL-166/G body style / TPE / ~166 cm / ~34 kg

No new torso was released.

These stats reflect what our (potential) customers are interested in. The stats are broken down by the geographical distribution area, so this might give some insight about varying regional tastes or preferences.
