Weekly summary 48/2019

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 48th week of 2019, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) New arrivals.

This week, three new heads were introduced:

• HR Doll head no. 7 - TPE
• HR Doll head no. 25 - TPE
• Xycolo ›Mumu‹ head - silicone

Also, one new body style was released:

• New arrivals: HR Doll HR-158/K body style - TPE / height ~158 cm / weight ~40 kg

3) Factory photos and shipped dolls.

This week, we had six completed dolls:

4) Current Promotions.

Some of the following promotions are still running for a couple of days:

• HR Doll - 2nd head for free (valid until December 31st for doll bodies from 153 cm and up)
• Piper Doll - Hanging hook & enhanced tongue for all dolls >= 130 cm
• Xycolo - Promotion extended / Introductory prices until end of December 2019 for all Xycolo dolls!
• YL Doll - 2nd head for free (Black Friday Promotion, valid from Nov 28th until Dec 4th)

This years Hitdoll & Ildoll generous promotion was finalized on last Friday. We had one customer who participated; he will receive a head with implanted hair, so congratulations are in place - this will be an exciting doll! Also, two other customers who placed orders shortly before the promotion was announced participated based on obligingness by Hitdoll/Ildoll; both will receive a 2nd head for free. That's really cool, thank you, Kevin!

Regarding performance review for the other finalized promotions, neither Doll House 168 'classic' nor Irontech scored any additional sales during the promotion. That's a bit puzzling since both have a vast range of attractive head choices.

The promotion period was a bit more successful for Doll House 168 'EVO' and Doll Forever; both scored one sale each during the promotion period. Interestingly, Piper Doll performed significantly better, even without making a special time-limited offer. Their continues model care - recently added support for a hanging system and the enhanced tongue by default - seems to be valued higher by customers, as far as converted sales are concerned.

My impression is that most 'Black Friday' promotions do not significantly boost sales. Rather the promotions seem to shift 'normal' purchasing decisions away from those suppliers who do not offer promotions. For example, during the hot 'Black Friday' phase I did not get any sales for Doll Sweet or Sino-doll. Both offer solid products with good value for the money, and normally they both do better.

If my observations are correct, it might be advisable to modify when and what is promoted. Maybe customers expect massive discounts like "20% off for everything" - that's what RealDoll offered. Such massive discounts won't happen with Chinese manufacturers are their margins are much smaller.

5) Weekly Top 10 Dolls.

Based on our website access stats, I am starting a new weekly report: What's trending this week?

These stats reflect what our (potential) customers are interested in. The stats are broken down by the geographical distribution area, so this might give some insight about varying regional tastes or preferences.
