Welding of longer incisions with small depth

Hi,

the next group of repair examples deal with larger cuts aka incisions.

In the next couple of days I will post the following repair tutorials:

  1. Welding of short incisions with small depth;
  2. Welding of short incisions with larger depth;
  3. Welding of longer incisions with small depth;
  4. Welding of longer incisions with larger depth.

The following use case is an excerpt from Indigo's handbook for the CWA .

In section V. "Application examples", part A, several repairs without material tension are showcased.

For this repair, you can use Indigo's replacement for Chinese "TPE glue", which actually is a Cold-welding TPE & TPR diffusion adhesive (CWA). This "TPE glue" alternative was developed by German company Indigo Individual, also known for a TPE repair kit, a stain remover and a magnetic M16 connector.

The example below explains how to weld a longer incision with small depth.

Longer incisions are problematic in that the edges of the incision may shift, creating visible and feelable edges.

Therefore, longer incisions are welded step by step.

For fixation and stabilization, duct tape (scotch tape) is recommended.

This incision is over 4cm long:

The right half of the incision is now fixated with adhesive tape and thus keeps it closed.

The left half of the incision is now slightly opened and welded as a small incision, as already described in "Welding of short incisions with small depth".

After curing, the duct tape is removed and the right half of the incision is welded:

This incision on the sole of a TPE love doll has a length of 10cm and a material thickness of 2cm.

Now you recognize the problem that the incision will constantly move:

The fixation with several duct tapes across the entire length of the incision now ensures stabilization.

Between the duct tapes you now have the opportunity to weld in small sections of short length:

After curing of the diffusion adhesive, these steps are repeated.

The post-processing is carried out after the curing of the diffusion adhesive. This is covered in section VI. "Post-processing" of the handbook. Every customer will receive the unabbreviated manual as PDF file.
