Repairing a finger poke (breakthrough of a finger wire)
Repairing a finger poke (breakthrough of a finger wire)
Hi,
here is another common use case: How to repair a finger poke (breakthrough of a finger wire).
For this repair, you can use Indigo's replacement for Chinese "TPE glue", which actually is a Cold-welding TPE & TPR diffusion adhesive (CWA). This "TPE glue" alternative was developed by German company Indigo Individual, also known for a TPE repair kit, a stain remover and a magnetic M16 connector.
The following use case is an excerpt from Indigo's handbook for the CWA .
In section V. "Application examples", part A, several repairs without material tension are showcased.
Example 2 shows how to deal with the breakthrough of a finger wire.
In this example, the diffusion adhesive is applied with the toothpick.
At the tip of the finger, a finger wire has pierced through the TPE at the side:
To prevent this from happening again, you can put a small piece of cable insulation over the finger wire:
The finger wire (possibly with added cable insulation) is bent straight and pushed back into the crack:
Then, the crack is almost closed with the fingers. With the toothpick, a very small amount of diffusion adhesive is applied into the small incision:
The crack is now closed with your fingers immediately and held together for about two minutes to allow the CWS to cure:
The post-processing is carried out after the curing of the diffusion adhesive. This is covered in section VI. "Post-processing" of the handbook. Every customer will receive the unabbreviated manual as a PDF file.
