Chinese New Year holidays schedule 2021

Hi,

Chinese New Year (春節 / 春节) is closing in!

The new year will be the year of the ox (牛, niú). It begins on February 12th, 2021.

The new year is tied with "Spring Festival" public holidays which last for 7 days (February 11th–17th, 2021). However, celebrations may last up to 16 days.

Here is the full schedule:

  • February 4th–11th: Little Year (小年, xiǎo nián) (= 8 days)
  • February 11th: New Year's Eve (除夕, chúxì)
  • February 12th–22nd: Spring Festival (春节, chūn jié) (11 days)
  • February 23rd–26th: Lantern Festival (元宵节, yuán xiāo jié) (4 days)

Impact on economy.

Together with the "Golden Week" in October, new year celebrations are the most important holidays in China.

Around this date, huge parts of China's economy go into 'sleeping beauty' mode. Shipping carriers shut down, and factories close their doors.

As every year, this will affect Chinese doll makers, too. Most factories close, and even those who do not close will not be able to ship for at least a week. So delays are to be expected for everything not kept on stock outside of China.

I will update this thread with factory closing times as they come in.

Factory closing schedules:

  • Doll Forever: about 02/2020-03/2021 (cut-off date was middle of January)
  • Doll House 168: about 02/2020-03/2021 (cut-off date was middle of January)
  • Gynoid Tech: January 27th to February 21st (cut-off date was end of December)
  • Hitdoll & Ildoll: 12/2020-03/2021 (cut-off date was beginning of December, more details)
  • HR Doll: January 31st to February 19th, 2021
  • Irontech Doll: February 1st to February 18th, 2021 (cut-off date January 28th, 2021)
  • Piper Doll: about 02/2021-03/2021 (cut-off date was middle of January)
  • SE Doll: February 10th to 17th, 2021 (deadline for the last shipment: February 5th, 2021 / resuming of production: February 18th, 2021)
  • Sino-doll: 01.02.-19.02.2021 (cut-off date was end of December, more details)
  • WM Dolls & WM Doll beginning of February until about February 20th, 2021

How to get a doll during Chinese New Year holidays.

Two options are available to get a doll during Chinese New Year holidays:

  • Get a doll from stock. We have a selection of completed dolls in the For sale section. Also, a couple of manufacturers offer pre-produced dolls which can be shipped from warehouses in the U.S. and Australia (e.g. Jarliet and SE Doll).
  • Get a doll from a American or European doll maker. Doll makers like Textile Doll continue the manufacturing of dolls throughout February without any special delay as CNY does not affect them.
